Burien Arts Association began in 1954 as Burien Arts Gallery, "an informal group of local artist, art enthusiasts and activists wishing to increase the access to to art in local schools, and to secure a place to display their work."
Burien Arts Association expanded it scope to include performing arts events as well as visual arts programming. Burien Arts sponsors Shakespeare in the Park, the Highline Classic Jazz Festival, Vision 20/20 Art Show and the Strawberry Festival booth just to name a few. Burien Arts has also "become an outspoken advocate for the expansion of arts experiences and opportunities in our community."
Exhibits are rotated every month. Art works exhibited include two-dimensional works in every possible medium from art gift cards to sculptures. Since its origins of approximately 3 years ago, Artist United has staffed the gallery in return for the exclusive use of a smaller show room and use of the entire gallery one time a year to hold the Annual Juried Show.
