Justin Cline, owner of Full Tilt Ice Cream showed off the company's latest creation, Wheedle on the Needle to celebrate being named as the official ice cream of the Space Needle.
In yet another marketing triumph for Justin Cline and White Center's Full Tilt Ice Cream, the company has been named as the official ice cream of the Space Needle. While they will supply five flavors to the landmark restaurant a special one has been concocted called Wheedle on the Needle (orange creamsicle with maraschino cherries) after the noted children's book by Stephen Cosgrove. Cosgrove granted permission for the name.
The ice cream will be a permanent flavor on the menu and part of their Lunar Orbiter Sundae. It is part of what Cline calls the "Icon Series" for Full Tilt in which 19 Seattle notables will be honored with a flavor. It will begin with a flavor honoring librarian Nancy Pearl and continue for 22 weeks. Archie McPhee, Pearl Jam, Frances Farmer, J.P. Patches and others are part of the series.
Cline said the Space Needle sells 120 gallons a week and they expect that to triple by summer.
The biggest seller in the shop is still Salted Caramel flavor followed by vanilla.
They now have four locations and second one, with a full bar will be open in the U District at 52nd and University Way.
