Twenty Pound Hammer drops down in Ballard
Mon, 04/25/2016
CrossFit Twenty Pound Hammer opens in Ballard on April 9th. Owned by Ballard-area residents, Steve Amoroso, Monica Olsson, Eric Dagg, and Ross Rosen. Twenty Pound Hammer aims to build a foundation for fitness and community in their Ballard neighborhood.
Located at 4550 9th Ave. NW, on the corner of 46th and Leary, Twenty Pound Hammer boasts high ceilings and tons of natural light from big windows. The Ballard location was chosen both for its central location in the neighborhood and its accessibility to other parts of the city, along with free parking spaces. “While we place a high priority on the individual, we are dedicated to building a strong community amongst our athletes,” says Steve Amoroso, co-owner and head coach. “In a neighborhood like Ballard, where community is key, this feels like the perfect fit.”
Amoroso and Olsson will act as head coaches and play the most active role on a day-to-day basis. Steve has been a coach in the Ballard area for five years, and Monica relocated from Boston's top CrossFit gym (Reebok CrossFit Back Bay) to launch Twenty Pound Hammer. Steve and Monica both love the energy of group CrossFit classes, but realize that not one workout program, no matter how well-designed, will ever be able to address every single person's unique strengths and weaknesses. “Each athlete is an individual, with unique goals. We build our training programs accordingly,” adds Olsson. “Like most CrossFit gyms, we offer group classes, but we also offer Individualized Coaching that creates even greater precision.”
CrossFit Twenty Pound Hammer will offer one hour-long classes as early as 6am on weekdays (7am on weekends), and as late as 7.30pm on weekdays (11am on Saturdays). Twenty Pound Hammer will add on more holistic and wellness programs with in the first few months, including yoga and other activities geared toward recovery and nutrition. Twenty Pound Hammer takes pride in their coaches being experienced, educated, dedicated and flexible in their approach. All initial consultations are free, and experienced CrossFitters get a trial week for free, as well as a consultation. For more information, visit the website at: www.twentypoundhammer.com.
