Highline Schools Superintendent Dr. Susan Enfield receives National Communication Technology Award

Susan Enfield, superintendent of Highline Public Schools in Burien, Wash., was selected to receive the 2016 Communication Technology Award for Superintendents which is sponsored in partnership between the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) and Blackboard. Enfield, an AASA member since 2002, will receive the award, and be honored at the NSPRA National Seminar on Monday, July 18 in Chicago, Ill.
The judges were impressed with Enfield’s commitment to creating a sophisticated, innovative and strategic communication program that was designed to ensure Highline Public Schools meets its goals and leads the way as a 21st century school system. They noted the extensive improvements she has made employing a variety of communication tools and her ability to rally her team around leading-edge technology.
“Dr. Enfield is clearly setting a new standard for all Seattle and national district leaders,” said Rich Bagin, APR, NSPRA executive director. “She models effective use of both traditional and social media, and leads with a vision that invests in and uses new technology to significantly improve communication programs that support student achievement.”
“Highline Public Schools has discovered the path to engaging their community through an effective multi-channel communication strategy,” said Chris Crawford, the vice president of community engagement at Blackboard. “Proactive communication is a key factor in creating student success at their district. The Communication Technology Award for Superintendents is a new award that is sponsored by and presented in partnership with Blackboard. It recognizes a superintendent of a K-12 school system, intermediate unit, BOCES or County Education Office for leadership in redefining, upgrading and integrating cutting-edge communication technology to improve and expand outreach and engagement with internal and external education stakeholders.
