Unhinged in a neighborhood park
When a child living near the 5200 block of 38th Avenue S.W. was reluctant to go outside to play with a friend around 4 p.m., Tues., June 7, her mother went to see what was wrong.
A woman outside was yelling and cursing—and that scared the child. The child’s mother approached the woman and asked her to stop yelling and to watch her language, since a number of children were in the neighborhood and a nearby park.
The suspect only grew angrier and started yelling at the woman and threw a cellphone at her. The suspect threatened to kill the woman adding, “I know where you live. I am going to come back and burn your house down.”
The suspect also threatened the woman’s child. She grabbed a bucket of water balloons and took them to her car and began launching the balloons at the victim, while continually cussing.
After the suspect left, the victim called the police. A witness saw the license plate and the suspect left her phone at the scene. Officers were able to locate the vehicle but are still searching for the suspect.
Woman and dog break in, set up camp in home for sale
A woman and her dog broke into a house that was for sale, located on the 9400 block of 24th Avenue S.W. A realtor and the home’s owner called police around 11:50 a.m., Tues., June 7 to report the incident. The homeowner said that the woman was responsible for multiple thefts and car prowls in the neighborhood.
Officers entered the home with the key at the request of the homeowner. They secured the dog in the kitchen, and then found the woman hiding in a bedroom. She appeared to be under the influence of narcotics.
Police arrested the woman and sent the dog to animal control. The rest of the residence was cleared. The homeowner said that all of the furniture inside belonged to a staging company and that some pieces had been rearranged and a couple tables seemed to be missing. She was not sure if any of the furniture had been stolen and agreed to contact the police once she completed an inventory. The bedroom in the front of the home appeared to have been slept in, and dog food was scattered on the floor of the living room.
Multiple break-ins at a residence
Police responded to a call around 4:40 p.m., Sat., June 4 reporting a residential burglary on the 6500 block of 35th Avenue S.W. The victim said her home had been broken into a number of times in the last few months but she had not reported any of them, since nothing was taken. The victim has a home security system, but she said the suspects were able to bypass the cameras. During this incident, she said that someone stole two shirts, two pairs of shoes, two DVDs and nail polish. She said that she locked her door when she left, and there was no signs of damage to the door or windows. Police are still looking for the suspect.
Break-in at business on Harbor Ave
At 2 p.m., Thurs., June 2, the director of operations at an online farmer’s market called police to report a burglary to the business, headquartered on the 2600 block of Harbor Avenue S.W., that occurred overnight.
The victim showed officers how thieves had damaged the metal door on the north side of the building by using a tool to open the deadbolt and doorknob. The suspects had moved a desktop printer from one table to another but otherwise left everything undisturbed. The only thing missing was a bicycle, which staff stored unlocked in a cubby located in the office area. No fingerprints or evidence were located.
