Rooftop guest suspect in burglary on Alki Ave.
Police received a call for a burglary at 10 a.m. Thurs., July 7 from a commercial property located on the 2700 block of Alki Avenue S.W. The manager of the business said he had arrived at work that morning to find the front door unlocked and a number of items missing inside, including a briefcase, laptops, chargers, books, two cases of wine, desktop computer, external hard drive, tools and W2 copies. Officers found no signs of forced entry, however they did find a fixed-blade knife that could have been used to cut into a screen in an open window.
An officer also noticed that a roof access hatch was closed, but not secured. He went onto the roof and saw a sleeping cot, mattress pad, sleeping bag, tarp and other personal items.
A number of fingerprints and items were submitted into evidence.
Robbery at Delridge gas station
Around 8 p.m. on Sat., July 9, officers received a call about a robbery at a gas station located on the 7300 block of Delridge Way S.W. The complainant had gone to the store to purchase a few beers. Once inside, he saw a man, who followed him outside, punched him and forced him to the ground. Bystanders tried to break up the fight. The suspect then took the victim’s wallet, which contained $900 and the only photo he had of his deceased son.
The suspect returned to the scene of the crime to attack the witness again, chasing the man through the parking lot. Finally, someone driving a black Acura picked the suspect up.
The victim asked to be taken to a hospital. Police took photos of the scene but were unable to gain access to footage from the surveillance camera.
Found backpack hints to strange activity in school
On Sun., July 10, a man contacted the S.W. Precinct to report that he found a backpack in the music room of the school where he works. He had looked through the bag in an attempt to find the owner and found a number of items that appeared to belong to a transient, including a wallet. The man then discovered that items were missing from the room. He said that someone could easily pry open the door if the deadbolt is not locked.
Dead man discovered near SeaTac
A SeaTac Police Officer patrolling near an apartment complex located on the 4000 block of S. 188th Street at 7 a.m. on Wed., July 6 found a dead man inside a stolen Honda. A King County Medical Examiner responded to the scene and said it appeared the man had been shot at least once.
King County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating the death. The car had been reported stolen in Seattle late last week. It is not known at this time how long the man or the car had been in the parking lot.
Shots fired on Fourth of July
Around 11:30 p.m. on Mon., July 4, two women were with a group of people lighting fireworks near S. 112th Street and 1st Avenue S. Witnesses said a white car was driving erratically. One man from the party approached the vehicle pleading with the driver to stop driving recklessly. An altercation with two passengers in the car ensued. Shots rang out hitting two women in the group.
One woman, a pregnant, 24-year-old Burien resident, was shot in the back. She was taken to Harborview. The other woman—46 years old and from Seattle—was taken to Highline Hospital with a gunshot wound to her foot.
The vehicle was described as a white older model sedan occupied by two women. Detectives are asking anyone with information to call the King County Sheriff’s Office at 206.296.3311.
