High schools
Football
Chief Sealth kicks off its schedule with a 7 p.m. home game against Washington at the Southwest Athletic Complex this Friday as West Seattle goes on the road to Washougal.
Foster plays a home game against Ingraham at the same time, with Seattle Lutheran visiting Lummi Nation and Evergreen going to Sultan.
Highline hosts Nathan Hale for a 5 p.m. game at Highline Memorial and Mount Rainier entertains Decatur at 8 p.m.
Kennedy Catholic waits until Saturday to play Lakewood at 7 p.m. at Highline Memorial.
Volleyball
West Seattle will play in the Emerald City Invitational that starts at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mercer Island High School before hosting Woodinville at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Girls soccer
Kennedy opens its season with a 5:30 p.m. home match against Holy Names on Tuesday and West Seattle will be at home playing Gig Harbor at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Highline entertains Thomas Jefferson at 7:30 p.m. that day.

Mariners
Seattle is in Texas taking on Chief Sealth graduate Keone Kela, Thomas Jefferson graduate Tony Barnette and the Rangers at 11:05 a.m. Wednesday before coming home to Safeco Field to battle the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim at 7:10 p.m. Friday, 6:10 p.m. Saturday and 1:10 p.m. Sunday.
The Texas Rangers then come here to face the M's at 1:10 p.m. Monday and 7:10 p.m. Tuesday.
All Mariners games can be seen on ROOT Sports cable television.
Rainiers
The Fresno Grizzlies are at Cheney Stadium for 7:05 p.m. games against the Rainiers Wednesday and Thursday, then the Reno Aces come to town for 7:05 p.m. action Friday and Saturday and for 1:35 p.m. games Sunday and Monday.
That marks the end of the regular season for the Rainiers.
Tacoma games are carried on MiLB cable.
Seahawks
Seattle wraps up its preseason Thursday, paying a 7 p.m. visit to the Oakland Raiders.
The game can be seen live on Channel 13.
Storm
Seattle plays a 7 p.m. home game against Dallas at the KeyArena on Wedesday before dropping in on Chicago at 5:30 p.m. Friday and Atlanta at 6 p.m. Sunday.
Wednesday's action will be carried on JOEtv and the other two games on the NBA network.

Seattle visits Chicago for 4 p.m. professional women's soccer action Sunday.

Husky football
The University of Washington launches into its season Saturday, hosting Rutgers for 11 a.m. action at Husky Stadium.

Washington State University will also be home for its opener Saturday, taking on Eastern Washington University at 5 p.m. in Pullman.
