Information from King County Sheriff
King County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Wednesday night around 10:00 at the Motel 6 in the 18900 block of 47 Ave S.
Deputies initially responded to a 911 call at the motel where a man said he was shot in the back as he got out of the shower.
When deputies arrived they found a man in the parking lot dead from an apparent gunshot. Deputies were also contacted by the man who had been shot while getting out of the shower.
The deceased victim was in town with two co-workers working on a construction project and all three were staying in the motel while the job was in progress. The co-workers told police the victim was arguing with the suspect in the parking lot. During the argument the suspect pulled a gun and fired at least two shots striking the victim in the chest. A stray bullet went into an occupied room and struck the other man in the back.
Police do not believe the suspect and victim knew each other prior to the shooting. The man who was shot in the back while in one of the motel rooms did not know any of the others involved. He appeared to be wounded from a stray bullet fired by the suspect.
The man shot in the back was taken to Valley Hospital and is in good condition. The suspect was last seen getting into a dark colored older car. He was described as a black male, 20’s, wearing a grey hoodie and dark pants.
