Keep it local this year and keep the Junction strong and healthy. Do your Christmas shopping in person! Let's all go old school and enjoy our neighborhood.
One of the reasons people who come to West Seattle (or who were born here) tend to stay here is that we have it all. From beautiful scenic views to culture and entertainment, recreation and because we believe in shopping locally, thriving local businesses.
That's why every year, the West Seattle Junction merchants sponsor Hometown Holidays, their seasonal celebration of all the great things we have right here to have fun or enhance and complete your holiday shopping.
It all gets underway on Nov. 26 with what is actually a national event, Small Business Saturday.By shopping locally we all help keep our local business district healthy and our neighborhood safe and strong.
On Dec. 3 the Junction Tree Lighting ceremony takes place at Junction Plaza Park at 5pm Also happening that evening is the popular "Night Market" event with local farmers and other vendors offering goods to make your holiday home dining and giving even better.
Starting Dec. 8, then again on the 15th, and 22nd it's Shop Late Thursday with many Junction merchants staying open till 9pm to let you explore and discover the perfect gift.
Also on Dec. 8 is the Holiday Art Walk with art on display and for sale (talk about a great gift) that also runs between 6pm and 9pm. You might plan on coming up to the Junction for the tree lighting, have some dinner and do some shopping as you also browse the great on display.
On Sunday Dec. 11 the Holiday Farmers Market open from 10am to 2pm will be happening. Many vendors will have gift items.
You (and perhaps someone younger) can visit with Santa at his house in the junction on Dec. 11 and 18 at the Key Bank at the All Walk.
If you love Christmas Carols (and who doesn't?) Caroling in the Junction is set for Dec. 15. Emerald City Voices will be singing like crazy from 6pm to 7pm strolling from Junction Plaza Park and around the junction spreading holiday cheer.
Finally, on Dec. 17, West Seattle's own Caspar Babypants will be performing at Easy Street Records at 6:30pm presented by the West Seattle YMCA.
There are more details in the works but put these on your holiday calendar and plan to take part in West Seattle's Hometown Holidays.
