Alarm goes off on California Avenue

An alarm company contacted the police around 8 a.m. on Mon., Jan. 23 to report a signal coming from a business on the 6400 block of California Avenue S.W. After arriving, officers noticed the back door gate was pried open and the back door was also ajar. They searched the property, but no one was inside. The victim did not notice anything missing. Officers believe the alarm sounding may have caused the suspect to flee.

Parking lot robbers

After police were dispatched to the intersection of 35th Avenue S.W. and S.W. Morgan Street for a theft complaint around 1:20 a.m. on Mon., Jan. 23, they were unable to located the caller. He had gone to his home on 32nd Avenue S.W. and offered to meet officers there. He explained he was on his way home from work and decided to stop to get a few things. Three suspects walked up to his car parked in the lot from the bus stop. One man reached into the back window and took $40 out of a box. The victim yelled at the man to give him his money back. Then another man leaned into his window and told the driver to leave. The victim to back out, but the suspects followed him. Finally, he was able to get around them and drive away.

Friend’s boyfriend turns violent

Officers were dispatched to the 9200 block of 2nd Avenue S.W. around 5:40 a.m. on Mon., Jan. 23. The caller said that around midnight, she was strangled by her friend’s boyfriend. The victim explained that she was heavily intoxicated and was talking to the man in front of her apartment building when he became angry and lashed out at her. She had difficulty breathing but did not lose consciousness. When a neighbor called out, asking what was happening, the suspect fled the scene. The victim said her friend was not at home. She did not know the suspect’s last name or where he lives.

Caught on camera

Detectives are hoping that security cameras and area residents will help them capture two robbers. At 3 a.m. on Mon., Jan. 16, two men entered a convenience store located on the 3200 block of Avalon Way S.W., demanded cash and flashed a gun at a clerk, who had been mopping the floor. They were both wearing gloves and had red bandanas over their faces. They stole a number of cartons of cigarettes before leaving on foot. Officers are asking residents to watch the video posted on spdblotter.seattle.gov to see if they recognize the suspects.

Shooting at Highland Park 7-Eleven

Robbery detectives are processing the evidence from an early morning shooting and at a 7-Eleven in West Seattle. Officers responded to a 911 call from the store located at 16th Avenue S.W. and S.W. Holden at 2:40 a.m. on Wed., Jan. 18. The clerk had non-life threatening injuries from a suspect, who was standing outside the locked doors and fired from a shotgun through the glass. The employee was treated at the scene and then transported to a local hospital. The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction and a K-9 team was unable to locate him.
