One team narrowly missed out on the chance to play for a championship while the other played for a championship already and lost.
The West Seattle boys were the team that misses out on the Sea-King District tournament final after taking a 62-52 loss to No. 1-ranked Nathan Hale in a Thursday semifinal at Bellevue College.
The Wildcats were already assured of reaching next week's state Class 3A regional basketball play.
Seattle Lutheran of West Seattle does not have that luxury at the 2B level, however.
The Saints played Orcas Island for the Tri-District boys title in Sedro Woolley Thursday and lost by a 60-51 score.
Seattle Lutheran now must return to the same gymnasium Saturday to play Friday Harbor for the second and final state regional seed at 1:45 p.m.
