High schools
Boys soccer
Five area teams will plunge into state playoff action this Tuesday.
West Seattle visits Stadium for a 7 p.m. match at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma and Tyee will be at home at Highline Memorial at the same time taking on Mountlake Terrace.
Seattle Christian also has a home game, playing White Salmon at 6:30 p.m. at French Field in Kent.
Two teams face long trips for 5:30 p.m. matches.
Highline is going to the Kiggins Bowl in Vancouver to play Columbia River as Mount Rainier travels all the way to Pasco.
The first round survivors advance to the state quarterfinals to take place at various locations Friday and Saturday.
Baseball
Three area teams made the regional level of the state baseball playoffs and will see action starting at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Kennedy plays Bothell at Foss High School in Tacoma (next to Cheney Stadium) as Highline goes to Wheeler Field at Fort Borst Park in Centralia. Seattle Christian will play Meridian at Daniels Field in Anacortes.
The winners play again at 4 p.m. at the same sites for a berth into the state final four for their classification.
Fastpitch softball
Seattle Christian is at Fife for a 4 p.m. game Tuesday and the 4A West Central District tournament takes place Friday and Saturday at the Kent Service Fields.
Both the 1A and 2A West Central District tournaments are being hosted Friday and Saturday at the Sprinker Recreation Center in Spanaway.
Track and field
Class 1A and 2A West Central District action will take place Friday and Saturday at Renton Stadium, while the Southwest Athletic Complex in West Seattle is putting on the 3A and 4A Sea-King meets the same days.
The 4A WCD meet is being held Thursday through Saturday at French Field in Kent and the 1B Tri-District meet is happening Thursday in Coupeville.
Golf
The Class 1A West Central District tournament will be held at Gold Mountain in Gorst for both boys and girls starting at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Tennis
The Sea-King 3A tournament is taking place Tuesday and Wednesday at Lower Woodland Park, and the 4A West Central District tournament is being held Thursday through Saturday at the Boeing Tennis Center.
The 2A West Central District tournament runs Wednesday and Thursday at the Kitsap Tennis Pavilion.

Mariners
Seattle is at home at Safeco Field playing the Oakland A's in a 7:10 p.m. game Tuesday and Wednesday before the Chicago White Sox come to town for 7:10 p.m. games Thursday, Friday and Saturday and for a 1:10 p.m. game Sunday.
Then it's on the road to Washington, D.C. to play the Nationals at 4:05 p.m. next Tuesday.
Mariners games are carried on ROOT Sports Northwest cable television.
Sounders
Seattle visits Kansas City for a 5:30 p.m. game Wednesday before coming home to CenturyLink Field to play Salt Lake City at 2 p.m. Saturday.
JOEtv will air both games live.
Storm
Seattle will be at home playing Washington in a 4 p.m. game Sunday that will be carried on JOEtv.
Reign
Seattle hosts Orlando for a 6:30 p.m. women's professional soccer match Sunday at Seattle Memorial.
Rainiers
Tacoma is in Omaha for a 4:35 p.m. game Tuesday before playing a split double-header at 9:05 a.m. and 4:35 p.m. Wednesday. The Rainiers will be there for another 4:35 p.m. game Thursday.
Tacoma goes on to Iowa to play the Cubs at 5:08 p.m. Friday and Saturday, at 11:08 a.m. Sunday and 10:08 a.m. Monday.
The Rainiers come home to Cheney Stadium to play the Fresno Grizzlies at 6:05 p.m. Tuesday.
Thunderbirds
Fresh off its Western Hockey League championship win over Regina, Seattle will travel to Windsor, Ont. to play for the Memorial Cup.
The Thunderbirds play Erie of the Ontario Hockey League at 12 p.m. Saturday, Windsor at 4 p.m. Sunday and Saint John of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
The semifinals are scheduled for May 26 and the championship for May 28.
Emerald Downs
The Auburn oval will be open for horse racing action at 6:30 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
