Kela standing out for Rangers

Chief Sealth graduate Keone Kela is now having an outstanding overall season in the bullpen for the Texas Rangers.

Kela has improved his record to 4-1 with one save and has lowered his earned run average to 2.64 over 30.2 innings of work. The hard-throwing right-hander has recorded 42 strikeouts and walked only 13.

Barnette on rehab assignment

Thomas Jefferson graduate Tony Barnette has been on a rehab assignment with the Round Rock Express of the Texas Rangers' organization since Tuesday, posting an 0-0, 0.00 record over three innings of work in two games.

He has three strikeouts and one walk.

The Rangers put the right-handed hurler on the disabled list June 16 with a sprained finger retroactive to June 15.

Brett back on DL, again

Highline graduate Ryan Brett has returned to the disabled list for the Durham Bulls of the Tampa Bay Rays' organization after playing in three more games since his previous stint on the DL.

The second baseman has played in seven total games this year, batting .227 (5-for-22).

Conger improves average

Federal Way native Hank Conger has improved his batting average to .284 (40-for-141) for the Reno Aces of the Arizona Diamondbacks' organization.

The veteran catcher has hit eight doubles, one triple and five home runs while racking up 37 RBI and 13 runs scored.
