Mount Rainier High School sophomore Grace Felner took a second and a third place finish to lead area athletes at Saturday's state Class 4A girls swimming and diving meet.
Felner finished second in the 200-yard individual medley in an All-American Consideration time of 2 minutes. 3.45 seconds and third in the 100 freestyle in 50.84.
Shayla Markle of Kennedy also stood out in the action at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.
Markle finished fourth in the 100 butterfly with an All-American Consideration time of 55.47 and fifth in the 100 backstroke in 57.07.
Krista Markle placed 12th in the 100 fly in 59.06 for the Lancers and 20th in the 50 free in 25.38.
Kennedy came in 11th in the opening 200 medley relay in 1:54.15 with Mount Rainier 16th in 1:58.34.
Mount Rainier took 13th in the 200 free relay in 1:43.14, with Kennedy 16th in the 400 free relay in 3:48.86 and Mount Rainier 24th in 4:00.37.
Allison Shimp of Mount Rainier finished 14th in the diving competition with 289.15 points. Kennedy diver Bronk Shirley did not reach the final round but took 18th with 199.70 points in the ones she did participate in.
