BURIEN - First half exploitation of an opponent's lack of foot speed served Kennedy Catholic well in a 66-51 demolition of Cascade Christian in a first round boys basketball game of the 2017 Sterling Shootout held at Kennedy Catholic High School on Tues., Dec. 26.
Lancer defenders stole the ball at will and made the Cougars look like they were mired in quicksand as KC blew away to a 29-6 lead in the second quarter.
The Lancers maintained double digit margins the rest of the way while utilizing many players.
Extra exuberance caused some careless play and missed opportunities in the second half, but CCHS was never truly in the fight.
A Cougar flurry in the final two minutes created an impression that the game was far closer than earlier events indicated.
Michael Spitzer scored 14 Lancer points. Adam Olufson and Chancellor Hilliard notched 13 points apiece. Andrés Hunt fired in 12 points.
