White Center shooting
A shooting at a White Center bar left a 51-year old man dead and a 35-year old man in critical condition in the early hours of Saturday, Jan. 6. King County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes detectives are still investigating the incident. Officers received multiple calls just after 1 a.m. reporting a shooting outside Club Taradise, located in the 9800 block of 16 Ave SW. Callers said they heard multiple shots and saw two men lying in the parking lot of the club. Deputies arrived within minutes and found the 51-year old man unresponsive, with gunshot wounds to his upper torso and head area. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim was also found in the parking, with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso. Medics arrived and were able to get the second victim stable enough to be transported to Harborview Hospital, where he was rushed to surgery.
Little is known about the suspect or the events that lead up to the shooting. Detectives believe that the two victims knew each other and perhaps got into a verbal and physical altercation with an unknown suspect prior to the shooting.
Fight at Subway
An argument over food service led to a physical altercation at Subway, 12805 1 Ave S. The incident was reported at 7:20 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 8.
Burglary on 152 St
At 10:40 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 8, officers responded to a report of a burglary in the 200 block of S 152 St. A suspect forced open a ground floor window of the victim’s townhouse.
Robbery at Safeway
A suspect stole an unknown amount of food from Safeway, 138 SW 148 St and struck a victim while committing the crime. Clerks at the store reported the theft to police around 12:15 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 7.
Drinking and shopping
A man stole a beer off the shelf at Fred Meyer, 14300 1 Ave S, and walked around drinking the brew. Security officers detained the suspect until officers arrived around 3:15 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 6.
Drive-by at High School
A drive-by shooting at New Start High School, 614 SW 120 St, was reported at 1:20 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 4. The school was occupied at the time of the crime.
Church burglarized
Officers received a call about a burglary at Iglesia Pentecoste, 148 SW 153 St, around 10:50 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 31. The suspect broke a window to gain access to the church.
Rent money stolen
A man called police around 9 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 31 to report that his rent money, cash and a camera were stolen from his apartment, located in the 500 block of SW 148 St.
Mental complaints
Just after midnight on Sunday, Dec. 31, a woman was transported to Highline Hospital for detox after she was caught pounding on the door of a random person’s house in the 13600 block of 1 Ave SW. She was not wearing shoes and was soaked in water. She could not stand or form coherent sentences.
