Chief Sealth's Sheila Lambert who was named Player of the Year in 1997 has been named by Seattle Public Schools as part of their SPS Athletic Hall of Fame.

Seattle Public Schools’ (SPS) Athletic Department is pleased to announce its second year of the SPS Athletic Hall of Fame (AHoF) honoring outstanding SPS high school student-athletes, coaches, administrators and athletic community members.

For the second induction class, AHoF committee members researched and reviewed 139 years of SPS athletics and selected 14 names. These distinguished inductees are remarkable because of their athletic prowess and their leadership on and off the field/court. This year’s class represents many of the district’s 10 high schools and former high school, Lincoln.

The AHoF is dedicated to connecting and engaging the larger Seattle community with SPS athletics, to empower current students with a rich history, pride and local role models, and to encourage financial support of high school athletics.

In addition, the SPS AHoF has created the “Seattle 500” program to help streamline athletic funding. Open to the public, this donation program ensures no student athlete needs to pay to play. More information, including how to join, is available on the SPS AHoF website.

All funding for the SPS AHoF comes from district athletics partners, like the Washington Athletic Club and 101 Club and many more. A full list of contributors can be found on the SPS AHoF website. Their donations will lead to a future, physical hall of fame building. Generosity from these groups is integral to the funding of athletic programs for students across the district, and continuing the legacy of Seattle Public Schools’ athletics.
