No. 6-seeded West Seattle knocked off No. 3-seeded and host O'Dea by a 59-55 score Monday to open the Metro League boys championship basketball tournament.
The Wildcats earned their way into the tournament semifinals with the win and can finish no worse than fourth.
West Seattle plays Rainier Beach at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Seattle Pacific University.
The West Seattle girls play Cleveland at the same site at 7 p.m. Wednesday after getting a first round bye.
Cleveland was a 58-41 winner over the Ballard girls Monday, knocking the Beavers into a 5:45 p.m. seeding game at Nathan Hale on Thursday.
In other action Monday, the Ballard boys saw their season end with a 65-50 loss at Blanchet.
Both Chief Sealth teams play loser-out games Tuesday.
The girls play a 4:30 p.m. game at Roosevelt and the boys play a 7:30 p.m. contest at Lakeside.
