Sportswatch: Sports events worth keeping an eye on

High schools
Boys basketball
Next up for the Kennedy Catholic boys team in the 4A West Central District tournament is a 6 p.m. Monday game against Bellarmine at Wilson High School in Tacoma.
West Seattle waits until Tuesday to meet Rainier Beach at Sammamish High School in Bellevue in the Sea-King District tournament, while Highline will be playing a 7:45 p.m. Wednesday game at Wilson against Franklin Pierce in the West Central District 2A tournament.
Playoff action continues later in the week depending on the early results.
Girls basketball
West Seattle goes to Sammamish to play Seattle Prep in a 3:30 p.m. Sea-King District game Tuesday, with Foster traveling to Wilson at 7:45 p.m. to battle Steilacoom in West Central District 2A action.
Seattle Christian goes on the road to Bremerton High School to play Bellevue Christian in a 6 p.m. contest Wednesday in 1A tournament action.
Tournaments continue later in the week depending on results.
Boys swimming
The King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way is hosting state action for all classifications Friday and Saturday.
The 3A preliminaries are scheduled for 9:45 a.m. Friday, with the 4A starting at 2 p.m. and the 2A at 6:30 p.m.
Finals start at 9:25 a.m. Saturday for 3A, 2:20 p.m. Saturday for 4A and 7:10 p.m. Saturday for 2A.
Gymnastics
The state meet is being held in the Tacoma Dome Exhibition Hall this Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
State 1A/2A/3A action runs from 11 a.m. to 7:50 p.m. Thursday, followed by finals at 11 a.m. Friday.
The 4A competition goes from 1-9:50 p.m. Friday with finals at 11 a.m. Saturday.
Boys and girls wrestling
The Tacoma Dome itself will be the site of the state matches this Friday and Saturday.
Session I goes from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, with Session II running from 3:30-9:30 p.m.
Session III is from 9:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Saturday and the Session IV finals session starts at 4:40 p.m. Saturday.

Spring training gets underway Wednesday at the team’s complex in Peoria, Ariz.
Games down there start next week.
Thunderbirds
Seattle hosts the Everett Silvertips for 7:35 p.m. Western Hockey League action at the Showare Center in Kent on Friday before visiting them at 7:05 p.m. Saturday.
The Thunderbirds come back home to the Showare Center to play Spokane at 5:05 p.m. Sunday.
Stars
Tacoma’s major men’s indoor soccer team is in California this week, visiting the Ontario Fury at 7:05 p.m. Thursday and the Turlock Express at the same time Friday.
Colleges
Husky men’s basketball
Washington hosts Utah for a 6 p.m. game Thursday before entertaining Colorado at 5 p.m. Saturday.
Both games can be seen on the Pac-12 cable television network.
Husky women’s basketball
The Huskies go to Colorado for 6 p.m. action Thursday before dropping in on Utah at 1 p.m. Sunday, with the Pac-12 network showing Sunday’s game live.
Cougar men’s basketball
Washington State entertains Colorado at 8 p.m. Thursday in Pullman and hosts Utah at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Thursday’s action can be seen on the Pac-12 network and Saturday’s on ESPN2.
Cougar women’s basketball
The Cougars are at Utah for a 6 p.m. game Friday and at Colorado for 11 a.m. action Sunday.
Both games will be aired on the Pac-12 network.
Redhawk men’s basketball
Seattle University plays host to UTRGV at 7 p.m. Thursday and New Mexico State at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Redhawk women’s basketball
Seattle visits UTRGV at 5 p.m. Thursday and drops in on New Mexico State at 12 p.m. Sunday.
Falcon men’s basketball
Seattle Pacific University is at Saint Martin’s for a 7 p.m. game Tuesday before visiting Montana State Billings at 4:15 p.m. Saturday.
Falcon women’s basketball
Mount Rainier graduate Jordan McPhee and the Falcons are playing at Alaska Anchorage at 8 p.m. Thursday and at Alaska Fairbanks at the same time Saturday.
Bulldog men’s basketball
Gonzaga University hosts LMU at 6 p.m. Thursday in Spokane and Pepperdine pays a visit at 5 p.m. Saturday with both games on ROOT Sports.
Bulldog women’s basketball
Gonzaga goes to LMU for a 7 p.m. game Thursday and to Pepperdine for 1 p.m. action Saturday.
