Detectives ask for public’s help finding robbery suspects

Robbery detectives are trying to identify five suspects connected to a street robbery that occurred just before midnight on Monday, Jan. 15. A woman was walking in the 1400 block of NW Market St when she was assaulted and robbed. The suspects’ images were captured on surveillance cameras from a nearby business. Arson investigation in Discovery Park

Detectives from the Arson Bomb Squad are currently investigating circumstances surrounding a fire set in an abandoned building in Discovery Park. Two juveniles have be identified and interviewed as possible suspects. The fire was in the 4500 block of Texas Way West and was reported to police on Sunday, Jan. 21. 

Burglary on 13 Ave NW

Around 11:20 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 4, officers were dispatched to the 8000 block of 13 Ave NW. The victim reported leaving home the night before and returning in the morning to discover someone had broken into his house. Items were knocked off his kitchen counter. A neighbor’s trash bin was propped against the house so the suspect could climb inside a window. The victim said $100 in cash was stolen. A neighbor heard a loud sound outside the home. 

Burglar thwarted by resident

A man residing in an apartment in the 8000 block of 30 Ave NW left his home around 5:40 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3. In the backyard, he saw a man trying to pry open the door to a tool shed. The victim called out to the suspect, who then ran out to an alleyway. The suspect had a black crowbar. Officers saw the damage to the door, but they do not believe the suspect accessed the inside of the structure. They searched the area but were unable to find him.

Burglar leaves behind items instead of stealing anything

Around 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 5, officers were dispatched to the 2400 block of NW 57 St. to investigate a residential burglary. The woman residing there had spent the night at a friend’s house and returned in the morning. She discovered bags and a luggage carrier inside her home that did not belong to her. She did not see any signs of forced entry in her home. She had not given a key to anyone. The bags contained mail from a number of different people, as well as clothing, food and books. All of the items were submitted into evidence.
