Threats in an elevator
Around 11 p.m. on Sun., March 11, officers arrived in the 3000 block of S.W. Bradford Street to investigate a call about threats made. When they arrived, the victim admitted that he was hesitant to call the police because he thought there might be retaliation. He explained that the suspect and his girlfriend park their cars next to his and live in the same apartment complex. The victim said that he was in the elevator when the suspect’s dog jumped on him. The man pushed the dog away. The suspect got upset and pulled out a gun from his pocket. The suspect’s girlfriend tried to get him out of the elevator. The victim felt threatened by the man’s response but did not want police to search the complex for the suspect.
Construction site burglarized
A contractor remodeling a home in the 7900 block of 18th Avenue S.W. called police around 9:55 a.m. on Thurs., March 8 to report that the front door was kicked in and an air compressor was stolen. The burglar also took power tools, hand tools and various other items. The thief also moved three objects to the back door. Officers took photos and found three fingerprints.
Cinder block bandit
Officers arrived in the 5000 block of Fauntleroy Way S.W. around 7 a.m. Wed., March 7 to investigate a burglary. The suspect used a cinder block to break open a kitchen window and then climbed inside. The suspect took a lap top computer and a bicycle. Neighbors found the bike a few houses to the north.
Friends fight
Around 12:45 p.m. on Tues., March 6, a caller informed police that she saw a woman being assaulted and thought the man involved threw a knife into a yard. When officers arrived in the 9000 block of 21st Avenue S.W., they spoke to the victim, who they already knew. She said that she was with a friend, running errands. She had purchased a plane ticket to bring this friend to town from Montana four days ago. While they were walking, the two got into an argument. The woman felt used by the man and asked him for $400 to replace the money she spent on his plane ticket. He yelled at her and came towards her with a knife. Then, he pushed her and she fell into a blackberry bush. The woman had a seizure, while trying to get away. The suspect fled the scene. The victim had scrapes on her fingers and forehead but declined any medical aid. The man left behind his knife and other items, which were all placed into evidence.
