Burglarized while on vacation
A woman residing in the 2800 block of NW 60th St asked her son to watch her house while she was on vacation from Saturday, April 28 through Tuesday, May 1. When she came home around 2 p.m., she noticed that her back door was open and that a back window had pry marks and was forced open, damaging the frame. Suspects stole jewelry, purses and money. The woman was still running inventory on missing items. Police took photos of the damage and uploaded them into evidence. They were not able to find any fingerprints at the scene of the crime.
Thief takes registers
An employee at a pizza place in the 9700 block of Holman Rd. NW arrived at work around 8 a.m. on Monday, April 30 to find the café burglarized. The lock was damaged and removed. He waited for police to arrive before going inside. Officers searched the building and found no one inside. Two cash registers were stolen, each containing $100. The burglar also rifled through the office and drawers, but nothing was missing. The dry cleaner next door also had minor damage to its door lock, but no entry was made.
Attempted burglary on Ballard Ave NW
A building manager in the 5300 block of Ballard Ave NW alerted police about an attempted burglary that occurred at 3 a.m. on Wednesday, April 25. She saw the suspect riding a razor scooter to the back of the building on video surveillance cameras. The burglar pulled out a pry bar and tried to get inside. He pried off the front plate of the entry pry box. Then, for an unknown reason, he left the area.
Construction site burglary
Officers met with a construction manager in the 100 block of NW 54th St to investigate a burglary that occurred around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 24. The suspect broke the padlock on the back door and then stole copper wire and pipes. A neighbor saw people with flashlights inside the vacant home. A worker on the site saw a green car driving by the house several times the day before.
