Attempted burglary revealed by broken lock
Officers were met by the owner of a business located in the 9700 block of Holman Rd. NW around 2:40 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15. She explained that she arrived at the shop in the morning and could not get her key to turn in the lock, because someone had broken it. She called a locksmith to get inside. She had not been to the business in the past three days. Officers spoke to a business owner next door who said he was also burglarized in the same timeframe. The broken lock was placed into evidence.
Construction site burglarized
At 1:50 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15, officers were dispatched to the 5400 block of Baker Ave NW to investigate a burglary on a construction site. The caller said that a suspect broke a door over the weekend. He noticed the damage on May 14 but did not call police at the time, since nothing was stolen. When he came to work the following morning, two doors were smashed open. He noticed a pair of sheetrock stilts was missing. The suspects also took a drill motor. The damage to the doors would total $2,000, the caller said. He also found three capped needles on the construction site. Officers investigated a residential burglary the day before on the same street and believe the crimes could have been committed by the same suspects.
Stolen goods left behind on sidewalk
Officers responded to a burglary in the 5100 block of Ballard Ave NW around 4:40 a.m. on Monday, May 14. A security company also responded to the alarm sounding. The suspect broke a window on the south side of the building to enter the business and stole six items inside, before climbing out and leaving the merchandise on the sidewalk. The items were returned to the store.
Fight between mothers turns violent
At 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 10, officers were dispatched to help a woman who was maced outside a store, in the 8700 block of Mary Ave NW. Seattle Fire Department arrived first and started treating the victim. She told officers that she was trying to pick up her son from McDonalds. She spoke to him and said that he would be there. Her son was with a friend, and the victim had a bad history with the friend’s mother, who sprayed her with mace. The woman also struck her in the head with a stick and threw rocks at her. The victim walked to Walgreens and asked an employee to call 911. She believes that the suspect was upset, because she accused the suspect’s son of inappropriately touching her daughter. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the suspect.
