I can't believe I didn't try Salmon Creek Cafe until just last week. I didn't even know about this local cafe until Anna, manager of the cafe contacted me to share more info about the business from hearing about the Burien Seen articles I write for the paper. I am so glad she reached out to me...selfishly because I got to go visit the cafe and smell all the amazing goodness being whipped, baked, and served up! And being mostly gluten free, I was able to sample the personal size gluten free apple pie. Dang! It melted in my mouth, and was the prefect balance of sweet and savory. Anna was able to share with me some great info about what's changed at the cafe in the last year and what's coming up soon. Check out all the news!
According to Anna...
"We are currently hiring for the summer farmer’s market season, for High 5 Pie. We will be at the Burien Farmer’s Markets in Thursday’s. We are also starting up a Summer Sidewalk Sale series for local artisans for sell and show case their wares on Sundays in front of the cafe from 9-1pm. Our grand re opening party is June 1st, from 6-8 pm.
We will be offering free snack and drinks and live music featuring a local musician Billy Brandt. Also we are going to be announcing our grand raffle winner at that time. Raffle prizes will be announced at our shop and online in the next couple of weeks. In the past 6 months we have transitioned from being just a bakery, High 5 Pie, to being our current Salmon Creek Cafe. Still the home base for High 5 and we still bake all the pies for the shop and farmer’s markets from here. But now we have added a more extensive menu, beer and wine and more of a sit down cafe feel. We also offer catering for large groups and an event space."
You definitely don't want to miss out on their re-opening party June 1st! Plus, you know it's good when a past employee leaves this kind of Facebook review.
"Everything is made from scratch. Everything. Clean kitchen. They're the best kept secret on Ambaum and are opening for dinner soon..." ~Erin G (April 2018)
Where is the cafe? They are located at 11620 Ambaum Blvd SW Burien, WA 98146. That's a wrap for now. Are you hungry yet? I am! Thanks for stopping by the Seen this week.
