Threats made after road rage
Around 8 a.m. on Friday, May 18, officers received reports of threats with a handgun near the intersection of SW Webster St and 35 Ave SW in West Seattle. They headed to the area and found the victim, a man in his 20s. He said that he was driving on 35 Ave SW, when the suspect changed lanes, almost driving into the victim. The victim honked. The suspect pulled over and tried to get the victim too as well. The victim, however, tried to continue to his work. He turned onto SW Webster St. and parked. The suspect drove past him and pointed a handgun at him through the passenger window. The suspect verbally threatened the victim, before driving south on 34th Ave SW.
Armed robbery at convenience store
When officers arrived on the scene, in the 3200 block of SW Avalon St. in West Seattle around 3 a.m. on Friday, May 18, an employee of the convenience store told them about how four men entered, wearing black face masks. They went around the shop, to the phone charges and then the soda section. One last suspect entered the building, wearing a red hoodie and holding a handgun. He demanded all of the money in the register. The victim followed his instructions, handing over the till and placing his hands over his head. The suspect then demanded the victim’s wallet and phone, threatening with his gun. The group left behind a bottle and opened charger on the store counter. Both objects were submitted as evidence to be fingerprinted. The victim had $300 cash in his wallet and $400 cash in the register. The owner of the store arrived and provided police with video footage of the crime.
Robbery victim fights back
Around 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16, officers were dispatched to the 2600 block of California Ave SW in West Seattle to investigate a robbery. They contacted the woman who called and she told them that she was sitting outside on a bench, charging her phone. An unknown man approached her and asked if he could use her phone. She refused. The suspect then snatched her purse, which was sitting next to her. She tried to grab it back. The suspect reached into the bag and removed $27 and yanked her cellphone out of her hand, before running away. The victim pursued him and eventually caught up to him. While they were running, she punched him in the back of the head. He stumbled, and she was able to grab her phone. The man started running away again. Officers searched the area for the suspect but were unsuccessful in locating the man.
Teen attempts burglary
Officers headed to the 6700 block of 21 Ave SW in West Seattle around 4:47 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16 to investigate a burglary. The resident was not at home but was monitoring a live video feed from exterior cameras around his house. He saw a teenager open the house’s front door. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect. A K-9 unit joined in the search as well. Officers walked around the property and noticed fresh damage to a metal doorknob on an exterior metal security door of the detached garage. A piece of cardboard had been pushed out from a previously broken window. They did not believe the suspect entered the home. In the backyard, officers found a cigarette butt and candy wrappers belonging to the suspect. The cigarette but was submitted for fingerprint analysis.
