Collision leaves one dead, several injured

Detectives from the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) are conducting an investigation into a multi-vehicle, fatality collision that left one person dead and several injured in Ballard early Friday morning, June 22. Around 12:30 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of 15th Ave NW and NW Market St. At least four vehicles were involved in the accident. A Mazda pickup drove through a red light travelling east on NW Market St and hit a Toyota and a Volvo. The impact forced one of those vehicles into a Toyota SUV. The pickup struck a traffic control box, which knocked out power to the traffic control lights in the intersection. The Seattle Fire Department medics also responded to the scene. A passenger from the pickup sustained injuries and was transported to Harborview Medical Center. The driver of the pickup was declared deceased. Two other drivers were transported to local hospitals for treatment of minor injuries. Seattle Department of Transportation and Seattle City Light repaired the damage to the traffic control box. 

Bike stolen from inside garage

Around 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 17, residents in the 600 block of NW 51 St. reported a red kid’s bike was stolen from their garage. The garage was not locked.

House under construction burglarized

A suspect entered a house under construction in the 2200 block of NW 60 St. by prying off a piece of plywood. Heavy generators and a box of nails were stolen. There is no suspect information available at this time. The crime was reported around 8 a.m. on Monday, June 18.

Burglarized while at a baseball game

A woman residing in the 8300 block of 12 Ave NW called police around 11:40 p.m. on Friday, June 15. Her home was burglarized while she and her family were attending a Mariners baseball game. When they came home, they discovered that the back door was open and unlocked. A glass insert in the door was broken, and two of the bedrooms had been ransacked. Stolen items included a laptop, iPad and jar of change. Officers could not locate fingerprints.
