Seafair Pirates take Alki Beach before huge crowd
Sat, 07/07/2018
The Seattle Seafair Pirates made their traditional landing at Alki Beach on July, 7 before a crowd of thousands who welcomed their annual visit. Taking the stage, they named Seattle football great Sonny Sixkiller as King Neptune, and being given the "Key to the County" by King County Executive Dow Constantine. "It must come as quite a shock to people who are new arrivals here at some tech firm when they look at this event and say 'WHAT?!' but this is what we do around here!," said Constantine.
The Pirates landed during a relatively high tide this year on a very crowded beach as people scrambled to both get a look at them and get out of their way.
Vendors, rides and music all preceded their arrival as hundreds of kids in pirate gear, mermaids, and more provided entertainment for the people gathered.
