Burglarized while away from home

A woman headed to the 600 block of NW 75th St around 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 4 to check on her mother’s house. A neighbor had notified her that someone may have broken into the home while her mother was away. She noticed that a lawn chair was propped up against a window in the back of the house. Once inside, she saw that several drawers were opened and someone had rifled through the contents. A desktop computer and some jewelry were stolen.

Couple tricked by fire alarm

A man residing in the 1100 block of NW Market St. heard a fire alarm go off in his building around 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 3. He woke his wife up and then went into the hallway to check on the situation. When he returned to his house, he saw a woman coming out of an emergency exit door. He later realized she had been in his apartment and took a wallet, containing credit cards and cash, and a tablet. The couple later received a fraud text alert from their bank.

Burglar cuts through gate

Officers headed to the 8500 block of 15 Ave NW around 12:47 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3 to investigate a burglary. The manager of the business met them and showed police a side, gated lot where donations are kept. A suspect cut through the gate frame to gain access to the space. He was not sure if anything had been stolen.

Burglar caught in the bathroom

A woman residing in the 2700 block of NW 85th St was awoken around 4:15 a.m. on Monday, July 2 by a banging noise in her bathroom. She turned on a light inside the bathroom and told an unknown individual to leave. She then left her apartment through the front door, heading to her car and called police. The woman did not thing that anything had been taken. She believes that the suspect pried open the door, connected to a maintenance room. Officers searched the property and found that a stairwell in the garage was propped open with a grocery bag.

Thief came in through kitchen window

A homeowner in the 400 block of NW 73rd St. called police 9:35 p.m. on Sunday, July 1 after arriving home only to discover it had been burglarized. Friends had been house-sitting but left around 9 p.m. A suspect broke the lock on the kitchen window to gain access inside. All of the doors in the residence require a key to unlock, both from the inside and outside. The suspect would have had to climb out the same window to get out, making it impossible to steal any large items. Officers searched for fingerprints but were unsuccessful in finding any. Photos of the broken lock were uploaded into evidence.
