Christine Spencer was named unofficial Mayor of White Center and given the Key to White Center by Sara Green Williams in a brief but entertaining ceremony on July 20.
in part of the run up to the weekend for Jubilee Days in White Center the Unofficial Mayor of White Center was named Friday July 20.
Winning the online election in a battle against Floyd the Dog the winner was formerly Unofficial Official Vice Mayor of White Center, Christine "Ginger Menace" Spencer. On a more serious note she did manage to raise more than $1800 for charity in her campaign.
On the Jubilee Days website her campaign information said:
"- Christine is a vocal community instigator and she wants to see all y'all get involved with your community!
- Christine is the Soup Czar of White Center, you can find her Mon-Thurs slinging bowls of delicious soup at the Triangle. She wants you to help feed people who need feeding (and eat more soup!).
- Christine is the Town Singer - whether it's belting out a number at karaoke or keeping track of all the daily White Center news, she knows it and she shares it. She wants you to stay tuned and pay attention to what's going on in the neighborhood!"
One part of her campaign promise may be more difficult to carry out however since she said
"If elected, she will tattoo the key onto her body so that no one can ever take it from her!"
The previous Unofficial Mayor Geoffrey "Mac" McElroy was on vacation and could not be reached for comment.
