Foster remained in the hunt for an SPSL 2A boys tennis championship with a 4-1 victory at Eatonville on Thurs.,Oct. 4.
Current league standings feature Lindbergh at 10-1, Fife at 9-1, and Foster at 8-1.
State fourth place finisher Abe Rios dominated Quade Richards of the Cruisers, 6-0, 6-0, with his usual assortment strong shot making in No. 1 singles.
Dom and Ben Nguyen fired into a 6-0 first set victory in No. 1 doubles against Ryan and Alex Mitchell, but faced much stronger resistance in the second set by being forced into a 6-6 deadlock, necessitating a tie breaker. The Bulldog athletes pulled it together for a 7-4 tie-breaker win.
In additional doubles action, Hao and Calvin Le out stroked their Cruiser counterparts to annex a 6-1, 6-3, No. 2 win over Trey Wood and Sam Eyring, 6-1, 6-3.
No. 3 doubles provided the Eatonville win as Coby Uhls and Destin Daniel took the measure of Larry Tran and Vijay Buttar, 6-2, 6-1.
Closing the curtain on the afternoon's proceedings at No. 2 singles, Bulldog Joey Gonzalez worked his way past Brandon Baker in a 6-1 winning first set. Baker showed tenacity by taking the second set 7-5. Fighting through a third set super tie-breaker Gonzalez emerged victorious at 10-5.
Foster has home matches against Renton (Oct. 9) and Tyee (Oct 11) plus a suspended match against River Ridge (TBD) left to finish the regular season.
