information from South Seattle College
South Seattle College has announced that former Art Institute of Seattle students displaced by the recent closure can qualify to have up to two quarters (30 credits) of in-state tuition covered with a combination of financial aid grants and scholarships, including donor funds from the South Seattle College Foundation.
To aid students in this transition and keep their momentum going, South will provide each student with a “Success Team” of assigned staff to provide support in the areas of financial aid and academic advising.
Here’s how it works:
·Former AI Seattle students who were already enrolled and working toward a degree at the institute can qualify for this offer, and will need to provide an AI Seattle transcript during the admissions process at South. Participants will also need to complete the financial aid application process and add South Seattle College’s School Code (009706) to their FAFSA/WASFA.
·Participants will need to be admitted and enrolled as a full-time student in Spring 2019 and can qualify for Spring and Summer 2019 quarters. South does not charge an admission application fee.
·Students must enroll in a minimum of 15 credits each quarter during the promotion. Over two consecutive quarters of 15 credit enrollment they will receive up to $1342.20 in tuition coverage each quarter (up to 30 credits).
·Students must use the full 30 credits by Fall 2019.
·Federal and State need-based financial aid grants will be applied to tuition first, and if a balance remains South Seattle College with pay that balance up to the cost of 15 credits for two consecutive quarters at the Washington resident, lower division level ($1342.20/quarter).
·With Spring Quarter at South starting soon on April 1, students will be held in their classes without payment for tuition while their financial aid is processed. Students are responsible for paying their fees (separate from tuition) before the fifth day of the quarter.
·Books and fees beyond tuition are not covered by this offer, although it is possible Federal and State financial aid will eventually cover those expenses depending on individual circumstances. The average fees and books per quarter are $500 when enrolling full time.
·Students must maintain eligibility for this offer by following the college’s Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAP). Failure to maintain SAP will result in the cancellation of future disbursements and void the remainder of the promotion.
·Students who do not complete their Financial Aid Application Process by the end of Spring Quarter 2019 will forfeit this scholarship opportunity, and all tuition will be due immediately.
