Aegis Living West Seattle, specializing in senior assisted living and memory care, recently named Alice Bouman general manager.

Aegis Living has long looked to leaders outside of the senior living industry to bring expertise – including hospitality and retail best practices – to the organization. Bouman is the latest addition with a deep history in both hospitality and health care.

She held several leadership positions at Four Seasons nationally and internationally – from Atlanta to London, Santa Barbara, Houston, Whistler and Lana’i City. Most recently, she was general manager for Vanderbilt Hotel, part of the Auberge Resorts Collection, in Newport, Rhode Island. Her father was a hospital administrator, so she entered the world of health care starting at a young age.  

“Joining Aegis Living feels like coming home,” said Bouman. “Here I can combine my expertise in hospitality with my passion for caring for people in a meaningful way.”

Aegis Living thoughtfully designs each property to create a warm, home environment with tailored amenities – from built-in movie theaters with vintage candy options to art therapy, cooking classes and more. The goal at Aegis Living is to create an experience for residents that defies what you’d expect to find in assisted living, allowing residents who need a little help to still live fully and enjoy each day. 

Aegis Living West Seattle, located at 4700 SW Admiral Way, opened in August 2018. Today, it has nearly 50 residents and 50 employees.

“Even though we opened our doors less than a year ago, we already have a deep connection within the West Seattle community,” said Bouman. “That’s what I love so much about this job – the chance you have to make an impact – both big and small – in your own backyard. I’m excited to find even more ways to be a great community partner to the people of West Seattle.”

When not working, you can find Alice spending time with her family, including two stepchildren (Clive an Lyra) and three dogs (Yammer, Marli and Gracie).
