Kent snags Southern swim title

Kent stole the show in the team competition in the Greater Seattle Summer Swim League Southern Division championship meet held Thursday at the Gregory Seahurst pool in Burien.
The Kent team scored 539.95 points ahead of the 329 of Olympic View, 264 of Normandy Park, 208 of Gregory Seahurst, 196 of Lakeridge (Renton), 192.5 of Marine Hills (Federal Way/Des Moines), 147 of Twin Lakes (Federal Way) and 141 of Arbor Heights (West Seattle).
Hope Felner of NP won the girls age 13-14 50-yard freestyle in a time of 24.89 seconds and Jack McGrath of OV took the boys 15-18 50 free in 22.40.
NP won the boys 8 and under 100 medley relay in 1:33.39 and OV took the girls 9-10 100 medley relay in 1:12.22.
GS captured first in the boys 13-14 200 medley relay in 1:51.34 and AH won the boys 15-18 200 medley relay in 1:41.03 with NP winning the boys 8 and under 100 free relay in 1:16.69.
Sophia Karthauser of GS took the girls 9-10 100 individual medley in 1:08.62 and Patricia Mihaluta of MH won the girls 11-12 100 IM in 1:06.33.
William Spencer of OV captured the boys 11-12 100 IM in 1:08.03 with Leo Benevedes of GS taking the boys 13-14 100 IM in 59.09.
Liam Casey-Minnick of MH won the boys 15-18 100 IM in 55.57.
NP's Alice Olmstead won the girls 8 and under 25 free in 16.57 and teammate Zack Wahlborg won the boys 8 and under 25 free in 16.69. Teammate Max Brady captured the boys 9-10 50 free in 30.97.
Hailey Weiler of OV took the girls 11-12 50 free in 27.19 and teammate Amre Watkins was the winner of the boys 11-12 50 free in 26.14.
NP's Hope Felner won the girls 13-14 100 free in 55.10.
Jack McGrath of OV took the boys 15-18 100 free in 49.38 and teammate Hailey Weiler took the girls 11-12 50 back in 30.78.
Drew Miller of Marine Hills won the boys 11-12 50 back in 32.02.
OV's Kiersten Weiler followed by winning the girls 15-18 50 back in a GSSSL record time of 26.82.
MH's Patricia Mihaluta placed first in the girls 11-12 50 breast in 34.13 and GS's Benevedes took the boys 13-14 50 breast in 30.83.
Benjamin Kinerk of Arbor Heights won the boys 15-18 50 breast in 27.25 and OV's Hailey Weiler took the girls 11-12 50 fly in 29.28.
William Spencer of OV was the winner of the boys 11-12 50 fly in 30.08 and teammate Kiersten Weiler won the girls 15-18 50 fly in 25.97.
NP's Nate Weller won the boys 15-18 50 fly in 23.94 and OV took the boys 11-12 200 free relay in 1:52.52.
GS captured the boys 13-14 200 free relay in 1:39.63 and OV won the boys 15-18 200 free relay in 1:30.09.
Next up is the All-City meet at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Seattle's Blue Ridge pool pitting top Southern and Northern Division athletes against each other.
