Five area high school basketball teams kept their seasons alive with playoff victories over the weekend.

Mount Rainier scored a 49-46 victory over Kentlake in a loser-out game of the West Central District 4A boys tournament Friday at Foss High School in Tacoma.

Kennedy Catholic followed on the same floor on the same night by knocking off Auburn-Riverside, 65-61.

Three teams won loser-out games Saturday night.

The Seattle Christian girls were 51-35 winners over Bellevue Christian and the Warrior boys followed by defeating Port Townsend, 81-48.

Both 1A West Central District tournament play-in games were played at Seattle Christian.

The West Seattle boys were 58-37 winners at home over Interlake in their 3A Sea-King District opener that night.
