A COVID-19 outbreak at Bridge Park, a West Seattle senior living community in High Point has been reported. Mindi Caulley, whose father is a resident at the facility said, "A positive case has been confirmed in a resident who has pneumonia which could mean the other residents on the site are facing potential exposure. This patient was released from the hospital and sent back to Bridge Park 2 after being postiively tested for COVID-19." Caulley went on to explain, "The main number for Bridge Park is being routed to a corporate number to help with the large amount of calls being received. The local manager, Caroline Curtis, has been very helpful.
After speaking with Lisa Herbold and Joe McDermott, I believe that Seattle King County Public Health is finally aware of the risk at Bridge Park. SKCPH was initially unaware of the situation and finally made a statement to Bridge Park a full day after the positive test was reported.
The residents are currently in lock down. Bridge Park does not have medical care at their facility, so residents do not have access to health care or CV-19 testing. If residents leave to seek medical care they are not let back in to their home because of the lock down. I have asked SKCPH to provide on-site medical care and testing so that residents can stay in their home and not overwhelm the local hospitals if they become ill."
This letter was sent to to residents and their families:
Dear Resident and Family,
We now have a confirmed case of COVID-19 within our community and we want to make sure that you are prepared with next steps. First off, do not panic. You have an entire community and organization that is ready to take care of you. Our number one priority is to keep our residents and associates safe.
We will be taking the following measures to ensure the health and well-being of our residents and associates.
• All residents will be asked to isolate in their apartment until otherwise advised.
* You may continue to enjoy internet and catch up on your favorite TV shows.
• All meals will be delivered to resident apartments, three (3) times daily (including snacks).
* Everything will be in disposable packaging and trash will be collected after dinner each day.
• No visitors will be allowed in the building.
* Medically necessary care will be allowed entry. Please call the office to arrange.
• All mail will be delivered.
• Residents will receive a twice daily letter of communication regarding the status of the building.
We want to thank you for your cooperation and support during this difficult time.
Please do not hesitate to call the office with any questions or concerns.
To clarity, I was told that the positive patient left the hospital and returned to Bridge Park before the test came back positive. It was determined to be positive 2 days after the patient returned, since it takes time to process the test. I hope that the patient is doing well and will be able to receive the medical care needed.
