The White Center Covid-19 Isolation and quarantine facility near Top Hat opening date, once set for April 3 has been postponed. Getting it open has been slowed, said Calli Knight Deputy Director of External Relations for King County Executive Dow Constantine because further construction and staffing challenges remain. Finding medical staff who can provide the services on a 24/7 basis is a problem they said.
In a conference call with the media, political leaders and the community on April 8, King County provided an update. As of midnight Monday April 6, the new case count for King County was 3486 confirmed cases of Covid-19 up from 2230 last week.
230 people have died from the previous 150 in the last eight days.
The total case count in King County now stands at 8682 with 394 deaths.
The other facilities in Issaquah, Kent and North Seattle are currently housing around 40 people with 100 beds total in those locations.
Concerns from the neighborhood continue focusing on getting explanatory materials into the hands of as many people as possible. The messaging has been translated into six languages the County said, and printed matter is being distributed to all the area apartment buildings.
New translated COVID-19 educational materials are available through Public Health Seattle/King County which has updated their roster of translated educational materials to include information in Hindi, Hmong/Hmoob, Khmer, Lao, Oromo, Persian, Tigrinya, and Ukrainian.
