The University of Washington Athletic department made two scheduling announcements Monday and both affected area graduates.

Making the most high profile announcement was the football team as it dropped out of Friday's Pac-12 championship game against USC because of continuing problems with COVID-19.

The Huskies' regulars include Kennedy Catholic graduate Sav'ell Smalls as a freshman outside linebacker.

Washington also had last week's season finale at Oregon cancelled because of the virus.

West Seattle graduate Lydia Giomi and the high-flying Oregon Ducks women's basketball team come to the UW Saturday and it was finally announced that the contest will start at 2 p.m.

Pac-12 Washington and Oregon will both televise the game live with Elise Woodward and Kelsey Plum announcing.

Oregon is 5-0 and ranked No. 7 in the nation.  It has the 6-foot, 6-inch Giomi coming off the bench as a senior forward.

Washington stands at 4-2.
