Delta Dental of Washington and Arcora Foundation are partnering with Boys & Girls Clubs of King County for Operation Toothbrush – an initiative to provide new toothbrushes and other necessary dental health supplies to children during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kicking off at the North Seattle Boys & Girls Club, and continuing throughout the month at other club locations county wide, 2,500 dental health kits – containing a toothbrush, fluoride toothpaste, dental floss – are being distributed. Also included is information about DentistLink, a free dental referral service provided by Arcora Foundation, as well as reminders for how to maintain good oral health at home.
"Kids are always learning about health and wellness in our clubs. It's a huge part of what we do, so we love working with Delta Dental's Operation Toothbrush to make sure all kids have what they need for good dental hygiene, said Laurie Black, CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of King County. “Right now, everyone is wearing masks in the clubs, but we want to make sure there are healthy smiles underneath."
“It’s important that people are able to maintain their oral health routines during this pandemic, which includes replacing your toothbrush every three months,” said Delta Dental’s Marketing Program Manager, Jennifer Hwang. We’re very appreciative for help distributing the dental health kits to those in the community who need them most.”
In the early weeks of the pandemic, Delta Dental and Arcora Foundation distributed nearly 12,000 dental health kits – as well as 15,000 additional adult and youth-sized toothbrushes – via school districts, food security organizations, Native tribes and nonprofits serving youth, families and seniors statewide.
