information from Seattle Department of Transportation
Both the roadway and path on the low bridge between West Seattle and Harbor Island will be closed to all people driving, walking, biking, rolling, and taking the bus. We will keep the low bridge open to emergency vehicles.
This Saturday, January 23, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., we are restricting all traffic from the Spokane St Swing Bridge (low bridge).
This temporary restriction applies to both those who are authorized to use the bridge, except emergency vehicles, and the general public.
Both the roadway and path on the low bridge between West Seattle and Harbor Island will be closed to all people driving, walking, biking, rolling, and taking the bus. We will keep the low bridge open to emergency vehicles.
This short-term traffic restriction will allow our crews to survey the system that latches the two spans of the bridge together. The bridge will remain operational for maritime traffic during the restriction.
Signs are in place to guide people driving, biking, and taking transit through routes over alternative crossings of the Duwamish Waterway, like the 1st Ave S Bridge.
Once the inspection work is complete, access to the low bridge will continue to be restricted to emergency vehicles, transit, freight, and pre-authorized vehicles as outlined in our low bridge access policy.
Thank you for your patience as this important work is completed. Please help keep workers and your neighbors safe by staying within the posted speed limit in work zones and along detour routes.
As a reminder, we began the automated photo enforcement system on the low bridge on January 11. Unauthorized users on the bridge can get a $75 citation for every trip across it. For more information on the access policy, check out our low bridge access webpage.
