information from the City of Seattle
Mayor Jenny A. Durkan today announced that the City of Seattle will start scheduling second dose only appointments at the Lumen Field Event Center, Rainier Beach, and West Seattle vaccination sites. Previously, the City was only vaccinating people who had not yet received a COVID-19 vaccine. Effectively immediately, the City will begin vaccinating people who live or work in King County and received their first dose from another vaccine provider.
“We’re continuing to make it easier than ever to get vaccinated. Many Seattleites traveled across the state to get vaccinated or are struggling to schedule a second appointment, and now anyone can make a quick first or second dose appointment at our Seattle sites,” said Mayor Durkan. “The City can’t end this pandemic alone – we need your help. If you need a first or second dose of the vaccine and you live or work in King County, sign up for a vaccination appointment today. If you have already been vaccinated, be a good neighbor and help your friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers get vaccinated.”
The City is currently administering the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines. Residents can schedule their second dose appointment here, or can call the Customer Service Bureau at 206-684-2489, Monday – Saturday, from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. for help scheduling an appointment.
Additional guidelines for securing a second dose through the City:
- The Moderna vaccine is only for patients 18 years-old or older, and the Pfizer vaccine is only for patients 16 years-old or older. The vaccines are not interchangeable.
- Patients must choose the same vaccine as their first dose.
- If a patient received their first dose from another provider, they must provide proof of immunization via their vaccine card or immunization record. Patients can access their information at https://myirmobile.com.
- Patients must follow Centers for Disease Control & Prevention timing guidance when scheduling their second dose.
There are still several thousand first dose appointments available across the four City-affiliated vaccine sites this week. The City urges all those who live or work in King County and have not yet begun the vaccination process to secure an appointment immediately.
Residents can visit www.seattle.gov/vaccine or call the Customer Service Bureau at 206-684-2489 to schedule any appointments.
In addition to online appointments opening up, last week, the Seattle Fire Department began administering walk-in vaccinations at their Rainier Beach and West Seattle Vaccination Hubs for anyone 60 or older who hasn’t yet received their first dose. Anyone 60 or older can head to Rainier Beach or West Seattle hubs and receive their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine without an appointment. The City also launched our Good Neighbor program: Anyone 16 or older who hasn’t been vaccinated can bring someone 60 or older who also hasn’t been vaccinated to Rainier Beach or West Seattle, and SFD will vaccinate both people, no appointment required. Residents can find more information here.
If King County residents or workers are unable to book an appointment this week, they can sign up for the City’s notification list and get notified via email as soon as appointments are available at any of the four City-affiliated sites.
For more information, visit the City’s vaccination website at www.seattle.gov/vaccine. The site contains vaccination information in seven languages, and in-language assistance is also available over the phone.
Even as more residents get vaccinated, public health measures like social distancing, wearing a mask, and washing your hands remain critical. Please continue to follow all public health guidance, and visit this website from Public Health – Seattle & King County for more information.
