PacWest posted a 2-2 record playing in the state Junior Little League all-star baseball tournament to finish fourth.
The best 13 and 14 year olds the Burien and SeaTac-based charter could muster entered the tournament as the only District 7 team and did not have the benefit of playing at that level.
But PacWest shook off that inexperience to open state action in Lynnwood with an 11-8 victory over District 8 North Central this past Saturday.
The team suffered a 6-3 setback against South Kitsap Eastern in Edmonds the next day to get knocked into the loser-out losers bracket.
PacWest led by a 3-1 score before giving up five runs in one error plagued inning.
PacWest bounced back for a 17-11 victory over Evergreen Little League in Mukilteo on Tuesday afternoon before being eliminated, 5-2, by North Central that evening.
The season ended on a strange note as a fresh reliever entered the game and picked off a runner at first base for the final out before throwing a single pitch.
