Water taxis will likewise continue operating at summertime service levels from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., 7 days a week, through this fall and winter. See this blog post for more information on the water taxi.
The service improvements are funded by the voter-approved 2020 Seattle Transit Measure, which provides transit service and access improvements throughout Seattle. While temporary, service expansion in West Seattle is intended to help with travel during the long-term closure of the West Seattle Bridge. It will remain in effect through mid-2022 when the bridge is scheduled to reopen. The expanded service will be phased out in fall 2022 and spring 2023.
We are partnering with regional transportation agencies in more than a couple of ways to keep you moving in West Seattle. People who make sign up at FlipYourTrip.org and pledge to switch from driving alone to another option will receive trip planning tools, special event invitations, and a special welcome bonus of $25 worth of free rides on transit, water taxi, and e-scooters.
By reducing drive-alone trips, we can each help relieve traffic congestion and pollution along High Bridge detour routes, where community members are impacted the most.
