Pryor makes key shot
West Seattle graduate Nate Pryor fired off what has been called the "Shot Heard Around New Mexico" Monday.
Pryor came off the bench and scored the winning basket for New Mexico State in a 78-76 overtime victory over New Mexico.
Pryor drove down the court and passed off to a teammate who passed it back. Pryor put up an awkward shot over his head that went in right before the buzzer, and he was quickly mobbed by his jubilant teammates.
"The ball was kind of slippery, so it came off my hand and I had to just throw it up," Pryor said.
Pryor is a 6-foot, 4-inch junior guard who played a part time role for the University of Washington last year before entering the transfer portal.
Monday's effort was shown on Facebook on the Husky Nation group including video of the shot and his post game interview.
Pryor and the Aggies visit Washington State University at 7 p.m. Wednesday in a game to be shown on the Pac-12 network.
They come to Seattle University for a 7 p.m. game on Thursday, Dec. 30.
Pryor was injured earlier this season.
Soto assists on Husky goal
Mount Rainier graduate Christian Soto assisted the second goal as the University of Washington men's soccer team scored a 2-0 victory over Saint Louis in a Saturday NCAA quarterfinal.
Soto and the Dawgs play Georgetown in a semifinal at 5:30 p.m. Friday in Cary, N.C.
The winner plays for the national championship at 11 a.m. Sunday.
ESPNU will televise both matches live.
