The nice folks at the Admiral Theater reached out to Westside Seattle to ask us to spread the word locally that they are seeking a new General Manager. The Admiral is a remarkable theater, saved from being torn down largely through the efforts of the Southwest Seattle Historical Society and the people of West Seattle.
It got huge makeover and reopened in 2017.
Here's the listing for that job
A General Manager is responsible for the overall operation, maintenance and staffing of the theater. They are responsible for every job function in the theater and as such must be able to personally perform and train on them. They are also responsible for training and overseeing Concessionaires and Assistant Managers in their job functions.
Requirements: Follows the direction of the Operations Manager. Supports and communicates their decisions with the staff. Utilizes punctuality, not only to show up on time but to follow a timetable while working.
General Managers supervise, train and coaches’ hourly personnel at their specified job functions. This could include positions such as floor supervisors, ushers, concessions, and box office cashiers. Enforces cash handling procedures as directed by company policy. Inspects building, movie theater property (including parking lot) and equipment conditions. Reports repair and maintenance needs regarding building, property, and equipment to the Operations Manager. Provides excellent customer service. Assists in cleaning the theater between showtimes and enforces and supports movie theater “Operation Guidelines.” Performs other work-related duties as assigned. Opens and closes the theater, prepares nightly reports assigned for the closing shift.
Ability to perform all job functions, requires certain physical standards. Operations of some job types may require lifting, reaching, bending, and listening. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Qualifications: High School education or GED. 18 years old or older. Positive attitude and ability to work well with others. Must be comfortable learning how to run and maintain 4 projectors, popcorn machine, soda fountains, point of sale (POS) equipment, and office computers. This position requires a self-starter who can learn on the fly, with the ability to do multiple tasks while working independently and communicating effectively to meet critical deadlines.
Previous supervisor experience is preferred, but not required. Must have own transportation with availability to come in as needed. The theater is open 365 days a year, must be willing to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
