State Class 3A
Caleb Pook of Ballard captured third place and teammate Oliver Stacey fourth in the state Class 3A diving event held Thursday at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.
Pook scored 292.00 points over 11 dives, edging out the 291.15 total of Stacey.
The pair of seniors scored a total of 31 team points, giving the Beavers first place through one event.
The lead will not hold, however, as Ballard only has a 400-yard freestyle relay team in the swimming portion.
The 3A swimming preliminaries start at 1:30 p.m. Friday with finals and consolation finals getting underway at 1:15 p.m. Saturday.
West Seattle sophomore Giovanni Slye also participated in the state 3A diving competition, taking 20th with a 133.15 preliminary score and missing the top 16 semifinal cut.
