Last June 25, the Highland Park Improvement Club building at 1115 Holden Street SW was destroyed in a massive fire. In the interim the club members rallied to keep the spirit of community service alive. They vowed then "We will be back" and now they are ready to make good on that promise. They announced via Facebook their plan to begin the rebuilding process their "Reset Fest" from 2 to 7 pm featuring live music, the food truck from BaiTong Thai, a beer garden, and live DJ's all at the Riverview Playfield 7226 12th Ave. SW. This is an all ages event.
Their announcement:
"On the anniversary of the fire that shut us down and changed us forever, we'll remember all the good times at HPIC: the classes, the events, Corner Bar, weddings, memorials, meetings, the Food Distribution program at the height of the pandemic, building projects and so much more - and we'll celebrate that we're still here, and that we will rebuild our neighborhood gathering place - together!"
