The costumed bike parade called Alki Daze came back on Sunday May 22 in a celebrat of the spirit of the “car-free day” events the city used to present on Alki in years past.
Founded by Guy Olson during the ‘Car Free’ events of the Greg Nickels administration
He came up with the idea to use the closed street of Alki Ave for a bike parade after the program was ended. He has continued to organize the event every year hence; One year over 120 people showed up- families w bike trailers and all.
It started as an event hosted by the Olson’s Alki Beach Creeps bicycle club. Members of Seattle’s Dead Babies BC and the Compadres BC regularly participate. The Dead Babies were represented by five members today
