"It was almost 15 months ago to the day," said Michale Adams-Farrar one of the co-owners of the Lumberyard Bar in White Center," It was the 4th of July we burned."
He was talking about the night that an arsonist set the bar on fire, one of a series of fires that decimated the downtown core of the community in 2021.
But now the Lumberyard bar and owners Nathan L Adams and Michale Adams-Farrar are back and the bar is bigger and better than ever in a new location at 9630 16th SW.
Though at first they are restricted to a limited capacity. They can only operate with a maximum of 70 guests until they get a good sprinkler system approved by the Fire Marshall. That approval will also likely trigger the permit approval for the other side of the bar to open, something they expect before the end of the year.
The restrictions are going to be a little frustrating since literally the day after the fire they have gotten questions and a huge wave of support from across the Seattle. In fact that support was so strong and unexpected they had to shut down their GoFundMe page since they reached their monetary goal in less than a week.
Then it meant seeking a new location. Amazingly enough a large space across the street became available and they took it. The bar is split across two rooms. One is the bar proper and the other, with it's own bar is meant to be a convertible space to allow easy conversion to a dance floor.
Until they can operate at full capacity, ti will mean a "cold menu" (see below) but Nathan is a chef and he will be bringing back many favorite menu items once that is possible.
New on the cocktail side is the slushy machine with two flavors Western Sun Blueberry and Peach.
The beers are all local, and there's an emphasis on local suppliers otherwise too.
"We're very excited to finally get open again," said Nathan," We're just very grateful for everyone's support."
The Lumberyard will be open during the week from 4pm till 12am., Saturdays 3pm to 2am and Sundays, 12 noon to 12 Midnight.
