When you plant a garden it becomes a labor of love. It takes time, attention, patience and lots of water.
For Lorrie, whose garden in the Genesee Hill neighborhood. it's something she and her late husband would often stop to enjoy. "We'd have dinner and beer and just pause and enjoy it," she said.
Her garden which occupies both the front and back yard, plus the parking strip, is a riot of color with tulips, daffodils, muscari and and many other flowering trees and plants so profuse that it was on the West Seattle Garden Tour a few years back. A wheelbarrow planter and pieces of garden art dot the landscape too.
But the best part is that enjoying the beauty she has created for everyone else who drives or walks by is free and a genuine pleasure to behold.
