A gun violence protest is set to happen at 12 Noon outside Chief Sealth International High School on Monday. In a post on social media, a person stating she is the sister of the 15 year old male student who was shot at the Southwest Athletic Complex last Tuesday called for the protest and asked that others join her. The school is located at 2600 SW Thistle Street.
"We are planning to hold a protest against gun violence and to get justice for my younger brother.
This past Tuesday my little brother, 15 years old, was shot at the community center (SWAC) and he died shortly afterwards. This happened during his lunch break during school hours and the weapon hasn't been found yet and the culprits have been released. The protest will be taking place in front of Chief Sealth International High School @12pm noon. We hope to get as much support as possible in order to pressure the authorities and make a difference. For both the safety of our children and community.
Even if you can't make it I hope you can share this to spread the word so we can get as many people as possible. It would truly be appreciated."
A petition has been posted on Change.org demanding more information about the shooting and expressing concern around the circumstances of the incident. The petition has already gotten more than 740 signatures.
